Nursery through 5th grade enjoy a broad program of support at
the First Presbyterian Church of Dunedin, from the regular Sunday School
program for all age groups, and the cherub and children's choirs, to
special events such as Vacation Bible School and Choir Camp.
The Weekday Preschool is a half-day program designed to help three and four year olds learn the socialization skills necessary for a smooth transition into kindergarten. The "core" of the program is to help each child learn appropriate behavior, to develop individual gifts and talents, to learn to work within a group, and to make sure that each child will have the positive reinforcement to help him/her feel capable and confident.
Preschool curriculum includes colors, shapes, numbers, and the alphabet, through weekly study units (the Zoo, Community Helpers, the Farm, etc.), plus a vocabulary enhancement program, and computers.
The total program of nurture and education at First Presbyterian Church encourages friendly relationships, not only among peers, but with "grandmothers and grandfathers" who help to strengthen the family faith.
