Music Sweet Music
Founded in 2001, Music Sweet Music is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides music therapy and the special musical instruments used in music therapy. Music Sweet Music contracts with specially trained Board-Certified music therapists to treat children with illnesses, diseases and disorders. Music therapists work in a variety of healthcare, educational, and rehabilitation settings and use live music, instruments, and recorded music to meet a clients specific needs. In the childrens hospital setting, the music therapist uses music to lessen a childs pain, reduce a childs anxiety, improve a childs ability to cope with procedures and treatment, and provide a child with opportunities to express his concerns and fears. Families of hospitalized children often participate in therapy sessions and have many positive emotional and physical benefits as well.
Using donated dollars, Music Sweet Music contracts and compensates board certified music therapists to provide services to hospitalized children at St. Josephs Hospital and Shriners Hospital and to provide services to the outpatient speech program at All Childrens. You are the key to giving the gift of music to children with medical and developmental needs. There are several ways in which you can help. First, learn about and then share information about Music Sweet Music with others, especially businesses with interest in local charities, then let us know if there may be an opportunity for support. Second, come have fun with us at our annual fundraiser gala to be held on March 31, 2012 (see the website for details). Speaking of the fundraiser, you may donate items for the silent auction. You may also make a one-time or a continuing periodic donation by check or credit card.
