ALL: Eternal God, you promise to dwell with us forever. You promise to wipe away every tear from our eyes. Men and women will come from east and west, and from north and south, and sit at table in the Kingdom of God. According to Luke, when our risen Lord was at table with his disciples, he took bread and blessed it and broke it, and gave it to them. -3- Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him. This is our Lord's table. Our Savior invites all who love him to share the feast which he has prepared. PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING LEADER: Lift up your hearts! PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord! LEADER: Give thanks to God, for God is good! PEOPLE: God's love is everlasting! LEADER: It is truly right and our greatest joy to give you thanks and praise, O God, our creator and redeemer. In your wisdom, you made all things and sustain them by your power. You formed us in your image , setting us in this world to love and serve you, and to live in peace with your whole creation. When we rebelled against you, refusing to trust and obey you, you did not reject us, but still claimed us as your own. You sent prophets to call us back to your way. Then in the fullness of time, out of your great love for the world, you sent your only Son to be one of us, to redeem us and heal our brokenness. Therefore, we praise you, joining our voices with choirs of angels, with prophets, apostles, and martyrs, and with all the faithful of every time and place who forever sing to the glory of your name: SANCTUS (Hymnal #581) Sanctuary Choir and Congregation Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! PRAYER OF CONSECRATION LEADER: Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ. By the baptism of his suffering and death, and resurrection you gave birth to your Church, delivered us from slavery to sin and death, and made us a new covenant by water and the Spirit. In remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy sacrifice, in union with Christ's offering to us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith. MEMORIAL ACCLAMATION (Hymnal #582) Sanctuary Choir and Congregation Dying, You destroyed our death; Rising You restored our life. Lord, Jesus, come in glory! PRAYER OF CONSECRATION CONTINUES LEADER: Pour out your Holy Spirit on us, gathered here, and on these gifts of bread -4- and wine. Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ, that we may be for the world the body of Christ redeemed by his blood. Renew our communion with all your saints. Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, strengthen us to run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. By your Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world until Christ comes in final victory and we feast at his heavenly banquet. Amen. And one was a doctor, and one was a queen, and one was a shepherdess on the green: they were all of them saints of God, and I mean, God helping, to be one too. ALL: They lived not only in ages past, there are hundreds of thousands still: the world is bright with the joyous saints who love to do Jesus' will. You can meet them in school, or in lanes, or at sea, in church, or in trains, or in shops, or at tea; for the saints of God are just folk like me, and I mean to be one too. *CHARGE *POSTLUDE "Ein' Feste Burg" Young *The congregation stands. PRAYER FOR PEACE - WOMEN'S HEALTHÊÊPC(USA) medical co-workers in developing countries see how the oppression of women in certain cultures has been worsened by the world food crisis, tribal conflicts, and pandemics like HIV/AIDS.Ê The Mission Connection (Fall 2009 issue) reports that at the Leboke Clinic in Mobele, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the number of rape victims doubled in the past two years alone.Ê In some cultures, single women who have experienced sexual violence resulting in pregnancy are rejected by family and community.Ê In India, which has the third-highest number of reported cases of HIV/AIDS in the world, the Church of North India is sponsoring an awareness program for rural people who have very little knowledge of the pandemic.Ê Women are critical to the well being of families and communities in developing countries and services for women are often the most neglected.Ê Dear Father in Heaven, please bless the efforts of all those working to protect and improve the living conditions of women.Ê Guide the actions of governments and care givers to provide the right solutions to the women in rural parts of our world so that the women can live healthy lives.Ê Their health will lead to the health of their children and of their families, and we pray for them all.Ê Amen.
