To share the love of Jesus Christ with others, members of the First Presbyterian Church of Dunedin reach out into the local community and the world beyond through regular membership giving and programs of the Church. As a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), we participate in the PC(USA)'s mission on six continents. First Church also administers the Dana Beck Fancher Missions Fund, which is for the support of local, national and international missions.

The congregation shares with many other area churches in supporting the work of Religious Community Services, Inc. (RCS). Among the many RCS services are the Spouse Abuse Shelter, Food Pantry, Quest Inn (emergency housing for singles), Free Clinic, Emergency Housing for Families, Samaritan Counseling Center, and Cold Night Shelters.

First Church is one of the area's host sites for the community self-help program, SHARE. Through SHARE, participants exchange $14 in cash or food stamps and two hours of community service each month for a carton of food valued between $30-$35 retail. The carton always contains meats, fresh fruit, vegetables and staple items. Everyone, regardless of income level, qualifies for SHARE.

The congregation is also an active participant in Habitat for Humanity, an international Christian ministry that provides homes to be owned by low-income people. Since 1992 the congregation has financed 8 homes in Dunedin, Clearwater and Safety Harbor. Because volunteers are involved, a low-income family is enabled to own an attractive three-bedroom home for $42,00-$60,000, financed by a no-interest loan.

First Church participates in our community's Meals on Wheels program by delivering meals to those needing this service.

Through giving to Three Cents a Meal we help feed hungry people locally and throughout the world.

We also support Beth-El Farm Workers Ministry, Inc. (Wimauma) Farmworkers Self-Help, Inc. (Dade City), and various environmental projects.

First Presbyterian Church sponsors 28 "Doorways Students", and provides church-member mentors for 23. "Doorways Students" are "at risk" young people ranging from 3rd grade to 9th grade who are given a pre-paid scholarship by the church if they maintain a good academic and behavioral record.
