AV & Technology Assistant
Part-time · $20/hour
About the role
The AV & Technology Assistant keeps the technical heart of our worship running — sound, projection, livestream, and the presentation software behind every service. Working closely with the Pastor and staff, you'll support two Sunday services plus meetings, events, and gatherings hosted by community groups in our building. You'll also be the person our office staff turns to when the printer won't print.
It's a role for someone who takes quiet pride in things working — and who understands that when the tech is invisible, worship is what people notice.
Schedule & pay
$20/hour. Sunday mornings, arriving at least 30 minutes before the first service and staying until 15 minutes after the second service concludes. Additional weekday hours may be available based on need and your availability. Some evening and weekend work for special events.
What you'll do
-
Set up and operate all church A/V equipment — sound mixing boards, wireless mics, projection systems, and display screens
-
Run worship presentation software (ProPresenter or equivalent), including slides, lyrics, and media
-
Manage audio and video streaming and recording; archive and distribute recordings per church policy
-
Have everything tested and ready at least 30 minutes before each event
-
Recruit, schedule, train, and debrief our volunteer AV team
-
Perform regular preventive maintenance and troubleshoot malfunctions with minimal disruption
-
Serve as the primary contact with outside A/V and technology vendors
-
Provide day-to-day IT support for office staff — network, computers, printers, software updates
What we're looking for
-
Hands-on proficiency with audio mixing boards, wireless mic systems, video projection, and livestreaming platforms
-
Experience with worship presentation software (ProPresenter, EasyWorship, or similar)
-
Minimum 2 years in live production, preferably in a church or similar venue
-
Basic IT support skills — network troubleshooting, Windows/Mac, peripherals, software installation
-
Ability to lead volunteer teams of varying skill levels
-
Strong organization, clear communication, and adaptability when plans shift
-
A degree in Media Production, Sound Engineering, or a related field is welcome but not required
Physical requirements
Work takes place primarily in the sanctuary and adjacent spaces, with some office work. Noise levels vary and may be elevated during services. May lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs. and move carts or staging. Some ladder work or access to tight technical spaces. Weekend and occasional evening availability required.
